Dopplers

Unique to the Chroma, Gamma, and Spectrum collections this set of knives come in a beautiful marble pattern that the majority of the CS:GO Trading community considers the most popular out of all knife patterns. This guide sums up everything you need to know about Dopplers (excluding prices)

Note that Minimal Wear conditions of the Doppler Knife are of similar value to the Factory New value, but as the Factory New version is an incredibly similar price - people would rather a Factory New one over a Minimal Wear one - so try not to get Minimal Wear Dopplers.

What are Dopplers?

The Doppler pattern is a skin type, restricted to only knives.

Essentially, Doppler is a marbelized pattern which comes in different forms, some have a lower drop-rate than others, which makes some rarer than others - forming the price.

As you may know, knives come in grades too, just like you see when you open cases (Blue, Purple, Pink, Red). The Safari Mesh and Boreal Forest-like skins, would be the "Blue" of the knives.

The Knife Grades are as Follows:
  • Rare (Blue) - No Doppler
  • Mythical (Purple) - Gamma and Chroma Phases 1-4 (2 sets of 4)
  • Legendary (Pink) - Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald
  • Ancient (Red) - Black Pearl

Where can you obtain Dopplers?

To obtain Dopplers, you can either obviously trade for them, purchase them off of the Steam market or other CSGO online marketing websites (e.g. opskins.com) or through the opening of Chroma Cases and Gamma Cases. On csGRO.com you can use the Floats Database tool to find the perfect float you desire or through the trading section selecting what doppler pattern tag you're looking for.(csGRO)

The Chroma Series (Chroma Case 1 & 2) are cases that released quite a long time ago, and was the case that first introduced a new set of knives, exclusive to those cases, just like how Fade is exclusive to all of the other cases - and will not drop from Gamma and Chroma cases.

The Dopplers are split into 3 collections and there are 4 cases you can obtain them from

As you can see, by opening the Chroma and Spectrum series cases, you have an opportunity to obtain the original Doppler knives; Chroma Phase 1-4, Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl.

By opening the Gamma series case, you have an opportunity to obtain the newer "Gamma Doppler" knives including Gamma Phase 1-4 and Emerald. These are generally more expensive than their counter-parts due to it being newer and more desirable to others.

Gamma and Chroma Phases 1-4 (Mythical - Least Rare Dopplers)

Variations and Comparisons in Rarity

There are 12 main different variations of the Doppler, these are the Mythical variations of the skin:
  • Chroma Phase 1 - This variation consists of approximately 80% Black and 20% Red (2)
  • Chroma Phase 2 - This variation consists of approximately 80% Red and 20% Black (6)
  • Chroma Phase 3 - This variation consists of approximately 60% Blue, 10% Green and 20% Black (1)
  • Chroma Phase 4 - This variation consists of approximately 80% Blue and 20% Black (5)
  • Gamma Phase 1 - This variation consists of approximately 80% Black and 20% Green (3)
  • Gamma Phase 2 - This variation consists of approximately 80% Green and 20% Black (8)
  • Gamma Phase 3 - This variation consists of approximately 40% Green, 30% Black and 30% Aqua/Turquoise (4)
  • Gamma Phase 4 - This variation consists of approximately 1/3 Green, 1/3 Black and 1/3 Lime Green (usually set out in a fade pattern) (7)

The Phase's are the most common variables of the Doppler, and are ranked from 1-8 in terms of their desirability and rarity. 1 being the least (Chroma Phase 3) and 4 being the most. (Gamma Phase 2)

Post March 2017 Update of CSGO: You can now obtain "Chroma Doppler" for remaining knives that did not have it before. e.g. Butterfly Knife, Shadow Daggers, etc.

Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald (Legendary)

These are the Legendary variations of the skin:
  • Ruby - This variation consists of 100% marbelized bright Ruby. It is a very desirable skin and is quite rare in the doppler stance as you are more likely to get a Phase 1-4 variation. This version of doppler is in the same rarity as Sapphire and Emerald, but seems to be less desirable than both.
  • Sapphire - This variation consists of 100% marbelized Sapphire. It is also a very desirable skin and is quite rare in the doppler stance as you are more likely to get a Phase 1-4 variation. This version of doppler is in the same rarity as Ruby, but seems to be more desirable than Ruby and has around equal desirability than Emerald.
  • Emerald - This variation consists of 100% marbelized Emerald. It is, (like Sapphire & Ruby) very desirable and is quite rare in the doppler stance as you are more likely to get a Phase 1-4 variation. This version of doppler is the same rarity and Sapphire and Ruby - but only drops in the Gamma case, while the other two drop in the Chroma series (Chroma Case 1 & 2).

The Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald variations have the exact same rarity and drop rate. (although there will always be more of one than the others). Like said, even though they have the same drop rate - the Sapphire and Emerald variations seems to be more preferred over Ruby.

Black Pearl (Ancient - Most Rare Doppler)

  • Black Pearl - This variation consists of 100% of the "Black" described in the Phases. It also shows signs of faded purple, faded red and faded yellow. This is one of the rarest knife skins you can get - as it is the only knife skin that is classified as "Ancient".

There are no other "Ancient" rarity skins or knives in this game at this time, this is insanely rare - although generally less desired than Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald Dopplers.
